Biography

Stijn Lakeman is a motivated and analytical Master's student in Information Studies specializing in Data Science at the University of Amsterdam. He is currently advancing his expertise in data science techniques and applications, building upon a solid foundation in Information Science from his undergraduate studies at UvA.

Stijn’s academic background is complemented by practical experience as a Teaching Assistant for the Programming Informatiekunde course at UvA, where he supports students in developing programming skills and problem-solving abilities. This role reflects his strong communication skills and commitment to education and mentoring.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Stijn has demonstrated a blend of technical proficiency and teamwork through his long-term retail experience as a Store Employee at Action, where he worked for over five years. This experience enhanced his customer-centric approach, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Technically, Stijn is proficient in multiple programming languages, including Python, C++, SQL, R, Java, and C, as well as web technologies like HTML and CSS. He has hands-on experience with data visualization and predictive analysis, evidenced by projects such as his study on predictive analytics in the game Rocket League, where he compared machine learning techniques for their predictive power.

Stijn is fluent in Dutch and English, with working knowledge of German. Outside of his professional and academic life, he enjoys gaming, staying active at the gym, socializing with friends, and engaging in coding challenges to continually sharpen his skills.

Based in Amsterdam and Zuidermeer, Stijn is passionate about leveraging data-driven insights to solve real-world problems and is eager to contribute his growing expertise in data science and programming to impactful projects.
